i've started a dollhouse rewatch, and i've got to say...i'd forgotten how well-done this show is? it's a little to spot-on at times. too aware of its politics and philosophy making it feel occasionally like propaganda...but jesus, the characters, the writing. so good. and adelle dewitt, ugh, you are so british and lovely and smart and complicated and self-aware. i love you.

I love Whedon so much, but Dollhouse... I still haven't even finished the show, I've been stuck about halfway through the 2nd season for over a year. I've been told it starts to get really good around then, so I'll have to push through it and finally complete it. While it was a good show compared to what other stuff is out there, it was definitely my least fav Whedon project.

There were a lot of really awesome moments I remember from it that had to do with the overall arc (the Alpha reveal at the end of season 1 was awesome), but I think I was mostly bogged down with just how many complete one-off episodes there were. It's also kind of hard to make a main character work when she has no real personality of her own, and though I like Eliza in general, I didn't like her in the role. And Tahmoh? His character was so bland.

I do agree about Adelle, though! At first I didn't like her or Topher and then as the story went on they became some of my favorites along with Amy Acker's character whose name now escapes me. Whiskey? For some reason that name sticks with me.

Also, off topic! But you're the person who watches Vampire Diaries, right? I've been thinking about trying to open-mindedly get into it since I've heard good things about the show as of late.

Woman, I totally feel you. I watched it when it originally aired and was just kind of meh about it except for loving a lot of the characters -- the aforementioned Adelle, but also Topher, Sierra, Victor, et cetera. I enjoyed a lot of the missions, and I thought the arc as done well enough.

I hate Tahmoh in BSG, too, so yeah. He's basically playing the same person. SUPER SELF RIGHTEOUS NO SELF DOUBT I KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT AND THERE'S NO GRAY AREA. Ugh.

BUT, yeah. It's not my favorite. And the second season mostly irritated me. Except for the first episode, which was interesting? And I wish they'd just picked it up from there?

Re: Vampire Diaries! Yes! I don't know if I can recommend it to you in good conscience. But once you get past the first five episodes, it's mostly very smart and well done. Great plotting. Fabulous characters. I would recommend watching the pilot (which be warned, is awful), then skipping ahead.

ADELLE.

She's just so smart and amazing and incredibly self-aware. She's kind of perfect, maybe?
