Thank you! AUs are generally not my thing either, but the prompt really spoke to me for some reason. But yay! I'm so glad it was a hit! My goal was to transfer some of the grittiness (and occasional humor) of the show over to the AU so it would still feel much the same even given the fresh 'verse.
And Lee. Oh, Lee. Poor little poppet. More and more, I think he needs someone like Kara - who's often so outspoken and extroverted and explosive - to keep him from withdrawing into himself so much. He clearly enjoys other people, but is so awkward and shy and anxious that it's often difficult for him to know how to do that. And I'm under the impression that when he *does* do that, his confidence is a performance.
Anyway, thank you, thank you, rosebud. Very thoughtful comment. To be fair, any fic in which I'm writing about Kara Thrace is GPOY. :p
